“Many thanks to Hamilton Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) for its two-year dedication to promoting the dialogue between communities and development of urban culture diversity,” said John Key, Prime Minister of New Zealand, when meeting SDUT’s exchange students Wang Jianhai and Huo Xinran, President and Vice President of CSSA in Hamilton respectively, and other delegates at the Art School of Waikato University in New Zealand on November 3rd. This is the first time in the history of New Zealand that a Chinese students association won praise from the top leader of New Zealand.
Registered in October 2014 with the approval from both New Zealand government and the Chinese Consulate General in Auckland, Hamilton CSSA was formally founded by Wang Jianhai, an exchange student majoring in business English from the School of Foreign Languages of SDUT, at Waikato Institute of Technology in November 2014. With 107 members, it has become the largest and most active association among all the CSSA bodies in New Zealand.
Back in April 2016, Hamilton CSSA was awarded the Outstanding Students Association by the Chinese Consulate General in Auckland.
