2017-05-10

SDUT held a special assessment meeting for authorized doctoral degree programs of primary disciplines on May 8, making a plan for relevant work. Vice Presidents Wang Libin and Yi Weiming, Wen Guangwu, Director of SDUT’s Academic Committee, attended the meeting. The special assessment leadership panelists for authorized doctoral degree programs of primary disciplines and other relevant staff members joined the meeting which was presided over by Yi Weiming.

The director of the Graduate School passed on the Notice for 2017 Special Assessment for Authorized Doctoral Degree Programs by the Academic Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education; he also explained the special assessment work plan for authorized doctoral degree programs of primary disciplines, including the agriculture engineering, the mechanical engineering, and the chemical engineering and technology, mapping out the task division plan and the assessment schedule.

As for the tasks of the special assessment, Wang Libin put up the following proposals. First, pay great attention to the tasks. As a significant issue concerning the development of discipline construction of SDUT, all the departments and schools should pay great attention to it, putting every task well onto its track. Second, make appropriate deployment. All the work panels of the special assessment for the doctoral degree of primary disciplines must make adequate deployment and coordination, requiring the staff to fulfill their own duties and ensuring all the jobs well done. Third, conduct adequate research. Make a careful analysis and research on the specific requirements and report of the assessment, ensuring all the materials for assessment standardized, faithful and accurate. Fourth, pay great attention to the quality of work. All the heads of panels must draft and review the materials for assessment in person, completing all the tasks on time by high standards according to the SDUT’s schedule for assessment.

As Yi Weiming stressed, prepare the materials for assessment with strict accuracy according to the high standards; communicate with the experts for assessment frequently for their suggestions; complete all the tasks on time by the deadline of each process; take a bird’s view on the macro plan, strengthening coordination among the departments and schools to complete the tasks on time and by high standards.

According to the Notice mentioned above, three authorized doctoral degree programs of primary disciplines, including the agriculture engineering, the mechanical engineering, and the chemical engineering and technology, will go through the special assessment. This is the first time for SDUT to receive the special assessment on the doctoral degree programs since SDUT was selected as a university with authorized doctoral degree programs.
