The 9th International Symposium on Asian Post-disaster Psychological Assistance Was Held in SDUT

From September 15th to 17th, 2017, the 9th International Symposium on Asian Post-disaster Psychological Assistance was held in SDUT. About 150 delegates from Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan and all over the China had participated in the activities around the theme of Post-traumatic Psychological Trauma and Repair --- Different Cultural Perspectives.


HU Xingyu, deputy secretary of the party committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. At the opening ceremony, Keynote speakers were ZHANG Jianxin, Deputy director of the Chinese Psychological Association, director of Psychological Crisis Intervention Committee, Chinese Psychological Association and researcher of Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences; GAO Fengqiang, Chairman of Shandong Psychological Society, and dean of School of Psychology, Shandong Normal University; and GAO Qiaozhe, director of Institute of Life Psychology of Ashiya and visiting professor of the College of Kobe, Japan.

The Symposium was very informative, including invited reports, thematic reports, case studies, research reports, youth researchers exchanges and workshops. Prof. GUO Yongyu from Nanjing Normal University, who is Vice President of Personality Psychology Branch of Chinese Psychology Society, gave a special report entitled Psychology and Social Governance. Professor MA Jianqing, Member of the Guidance Committee of Mental Health Education of Ministry of Education, Director of the Center on Mental Health Education and Counseling of Zhejiang University, gave a special report entitled Organization and Implementation of Psychological Assistance after the Disaster --- Inspiration from Psychological Assistance after the Earthquake in Wenchuan.

The Symposium also launched a special seminar named “Study of Post-disaster Psychological Assistance Model --- Psychological Assistance Exchanges in Different Countries and Regions and other special seminars. Invited domestic and foreign psychological assistance experts and representatives from all over the country shared the experience after the disaster psychological assistance of other Asian countries. Well-known experts’ academic reports, in-depth case discussions, diverse aid methods, rich clinical skills, had brought a success of psychological assistance exchange to the participants. The Symposium would help participants from different countries and regions in Asia make full use of their own original cultural advantages in adopting post-disaster psychological assistance methods and techniques so as to better serve the affected people in the future work.

The Symposium was co-sponsored by the Institute of Education and Psychology and the School of Marxism Studies, SDUT, and the Psychological Crisis Intervention Committee of the Chinese Psychological Society. The Symposium were organized by Zhongke Boai (Beijing) Institute of Psychiatry and Zibo Yixinli Psychological Education Consulting Co., and assisted by Shandong Provincial Mental Health Association, Mental Health Education Center of SDUT, and Zibo City Mental Health Association.
