On August 24th, SDUT held a meeting on strengthening the construction of advantageous disciplines in the conference room on the ninth floor of Hongyuan Building. LYU Chuanyi, Secretary of the Party committee of SDUT, HU Xingyu, deputy secretary of the Party committee and President of SDUT, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. YI Weiming, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of SDUT, presided over the meeting. Members of the leading group for strengthening the construction of advantageous disciplines participated in the meeting.
According to the principles and opinions of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, the meeting reviewed and approved the list of directors and deputy directors of the Focus Coordination Center of Mechanical Engineering discipline and the Focus Coordination Center of Agricultural Engineering discipline.
HU Xingyu interpreted the Implementation Plan For Strengthening the Construction of Advantageous Disciplines of SDUT from four aspects: why implement the strengthening construction of advantageous disciplines, the relationship between focus and coordination, the main measures and the work to be started as soon as possible. He stressed that for the next step, several tasks that need to be started as soon as possible include: First was to prepare the center academic committee; Second was to determine the discipline direction and research direction and formulate the general goal of discipline construction; Third was to establish a research direction team and determine the construction task; Fourth was to formulate academic awards. It was suggested that the two centers determine the reward items respectively according to their realities, and the member offices of the leading group for strengthening the construction of advantageous disciplines of SDUT coordinate and balance the awards; Fifth was to determine the level and quantity of talent introduction according to the discipline direction, research direction and existing talent situation to ensure that the task of talent introduction will be completed by the end of 2022; Sixth was to formulate post doctoral recruitment management methods; Seventh was that SDUT formulated the assessment methods for the center and the center formulated the assessment methods for the team; Eighth was that relevant functional departments formulated relevant supporting policies.
LYU Chuanyi made a concluding speech. He explained the significance of strengthening the construction of advantageous disciplines. He said that promoting the strengthening construction of advantageous disciplines was an urgent need to implement the fundamental task of building morality and cultivating talents. And it was an inevitable requirement to improve the level of running the school, a key measure to drive the all-round development of SDUT, and a major action to promote the development with characteristics.
LYU Chuanyi pointed out that we should fully understand the arduousness and complexity of strengthening the construction objectives of advantageous disciplines. It was a high goal to build the two advantageous disciplines of mechanical engineering and agricultural engineering into a national first-class discipline. All departments and schools should fully understand the arduousness and complexity of this work, make full ideological preparation, consider more difficulties and problems, and be fully prepared to fight hard and evil challenges. Although this goal could not be achieved easily, it could be achieved through hard work and struggle.
Focusing on fully promoting the strengthening construction of advantageous disciplines, LYU Chuanyi stressed that we should unite with hearts and make efforts to one place. All departments, units and schools related to the strengthening construction of advantageous disciplines should take immediate action and the leading functional departments should take the initiative to investigate, plan and coordinate, giving full play to their functional roles. Relying on the construction, schools should take the initiative to establish an academic committee immediately and play the role of consultation. We should benchmark domestic first-class disciplines, find out the gap, clarify the development direction, strengthen team construction, and introduce and train academic leaders and elites. We also should actively communicate with relevant schools, strengthen coordination and form a joint force. Members of the leading group should immediately focus on the implementation plan for strengthening the construction of advantageous disciplines, take advantageous disciplines as “special zones”, revise and improve relevant policies and documents, and provide institutional guarantee for the strengthening of advantageous disciplines.
YI Weiming pointed out that the goal and path of strengthening the construction of advantageous disciplines had been clear. We should further study and understand the construction measures of the implementation plan, and take immediate action and dedicate to in the construction according to the requirements put forward by comrading LYU Chuanyi and HU Xingyu.
